Paleo Day 7

Live and learn. I made a big mistake in eating and running today. Woke up to run my 12 miles without having food for 12 hours. I drank some sports drink, but it was not enough to fuel my 12 miles. I had no energy at all and my time suffered. I felt weak and sick when getting home, but managed to make the homebrewed shake for Stage III recovery. Got raisins to help with Stage IV recovery.

Lesson learned: By eating Paleo, I must make sure I have fuel in me before running. I can no longer run on an empty stomach and expect to have reserve energy.

My rough estimates:
Protein (ideal 20-25%): 30% (previous days: 35-13-22-29-41-25-28)
Carbs (ideal 50-60%): 50% (previous days: 37-75-27-24-24-30-38)
Fat (ideal 20-30%): 20% (previous days: 28-12-51-47-35-45-34)

  • Sports drink (14 oz)

12 mile run

Snack

  • Recovery shake – 12 oz orange juice, 1 banana, protein powder, salt
  • Raisins

Lunch

  • Squash w/ apple juice and raisins
  • 4 strips turkey bacon

Snack

  • Pistachios

Dinner

  • Lettuce wraps w/ turkey burger, mushrooms, onions, garlic
  • Green tea
